On May 19, PUBG Corporation released the 7.2 update for its famous title PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds. Despite the replacement of live events by the online PUBG Continental Series, it does not stop PUBG Corporation from taking care of its game. In an official post, the developers elaborated on the new features. It includes some weapon and armor balance changes, Ranked Mode, bot opponents, gas can improvements, user interface upgrades, and finally bug fixes.
PUBG 7.2 Update Adds Ranked Mode
Survival Title is now discontinued. Ranked Mode has risen to take its place as the true way for players to climb the PUBG ladder. Players are already experienced with this kind of system, present on a lot of other esports titles. Based on the performances they will display, players’ rank will change. In order to remain faithful to the esports spirit, this mode will use the Standard and Universal PUBG Esports Ruleset settings with 64 players maximum on a single game. To take care of issues like boosting, players with ranks too far apart from each other will not be able to launch a game together.
This game mode will only be available on Erangel, Miramar, or Sanhok. After the launch of a Ranked season, players will be given an official rank after playing five placement games. Winning matches and performing well allows players to have more Ranked Points. The more RP a player has, the higher his tier will be. There are six tiers including Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinium, Diamond, and Master.

Over the last three years, the minimum skill required to advance in a PUBG game has steadily increased. However, it also means that new players will have to go through a rough frustration period. They will have to keep up with other players far more advanced than they are. For new players, being eliminated early with no kills and damage dealt is clearly not funny and can lead to them leaving the game without a single thought. To solve this problem, in the 7.2 Update, the PUBG Corporation introduced bot opponents.

To give these players a chance to increase their skills, bots will appear in normal games. The lower players’ skills are, the more they will face bot in normal matches. Players can not be placed in a team with bots but will be able to use some features like the Spectate mode and Death Cam using the bots. Achievements, missions, trophies, and Mastery can be completed by doing actions against bots. PUBG Corporation explicitly said that it is still a work in progress and that they will be eager to get the fanbase’s feedback in order to improve this new feature.
Armor, Weapons, and Bug Fixes
For weapons, the PUBG Corporation’s goal is to strengthen the characteristics of each type. As improving only a single type may lead to an unbalanced metagame, adjusting each one is a more prudent choice. The M416, M16A4, and SCAR-L will get their reload time increased. The shotgun is now more deadly with an accurate aim, dealing more damage to heads and limbs. There is also a slight change in armor. Vests now still provide 20% protection, aim punch reduction, and inventory space even when destroyed.
With a new update always comes a huge list of bug fixes. This one is no exception because 36 bug issues seem to have been resolved. From gameplay, world, user interface and experience, sound, skins, items, and servers, fans will be able to enjoy a much stable game.
