The team responsible for BEYOND EPIC just announced a new broadcasting experience for Dota 2 fans. To make up for the absence of fans in arenas, organizers will use online tools to simulate a group of fans cheering for their favorites teams. BEYOND EPIC is a competitive event gathering some of the best teams in Dota 2 esports. Hosted by Beyond the Summit, this tournament is a perfect opportunity to innovate and try out a new system that fans will have an interest in.
BEYOND EPIC Live
BEYOND EPIC started last week and is currently in the group stages. But even in the group stages, there were still interesting matches, showing the dominance of Team Nigma and the power of Team Secret. The environment from these high-skilled teams creates tension and brought fans to the edge of their seats. European playoffs start in a few days and teams will need every bit of support from fans to perform.
BEYOND EPIC plant to supplement live broadcasts using Zoom. Twenty fans will get the chance to support their favorite teams and players. There will be a dedicated waiting room, only accessible through SteamID. In order to be chosen, a webcam needs to be activated for at least sixty minutes.
A New Broadcasting Experience
The Russian broadcast will use twenty video streams, chosen at random, as fan reactions. Creating interaction and making each viewer’s experience special is the ultimate goal. Since the tournament will be entering its final stage, fan support will improve dramatically. As a result, this can create more dynamic broadcasting, juggling between broadcaster comments and support from Dota 2 players.
In order to make Dota 2 players participate in this move, participating players can be rewarded by BEYOND EPIC. Between those twenty fans, two will be able to win 100 Battle Pass levels. To make it completely fair, everything about this special raffle is random. The goal was to allow fans from everywhere, even with the most rudimentary setup, to win the raffle.
The pandemic forces esports event organizers to think differently. Almost all of them shifted tournaments to online events. Nonetheless, it is difficult to replicate fans‘ support from an arena. This Dota 2 tournament may introduce a possible answer to this issue. Fans will be excited to try out this new way of support while potentially earning Dota 2 battle pass levels from BEYOND EPIC.
